{Heart and Home}: Staying Healthy

Our bodies are the temple of God. To me, that means I'm to honor Him with my mind and body, in what I say, do, wear on the outside and by what I put inside. Because of that, I think eating healthy is very important. What I eat, may cause you me be sick and lazy, or feel better, well, active and happy. When I'm sick from junk food, it hinders me from doing things to serve God. I can't be at my best. I want to honor God with my body, because the Holy Spirit lives inside me! I want to eat more healthful fruits and vegtables, instaed of eating those tempting candy bars! I may eat those things once in a while, but not too often!:) God created vegtables and herbs for people to eat, I plan to be eating more of what God made than what man has made, and praise Him for the healthful foods He's provided while I do it! I have been reading a great book that tells alot about healthy foods and the benifits and goodness in them. I have enjoyed reading about it, and I thought you might too. God is amazing! BEETS: Beets are rich in calcium, iron magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin c, carotene, and B complex, and they are a sure way of detoxifying the body. Beets and beet juice have been used succesfully in cancer therepies. BROCOLLI Some facts about brocolli are: Brocolli is rich in chromium, a mineral that protects against diabetes, it is also rich in indoles, a potent anti cancer substance. It also is full of fiber. CABBAGE Cabbage has lots of vitamin C, carotenoids, B complex, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and calcium. Cabbage is also has substances that block the spread and formation of tumors! CARROTS Research has shown that eating three raw carrots per day, lower blood cholesterol, and that eating a single carrot per day cuts the risk of lung cancer of smokers, in half. KALE Kale has alot calcium, iron, carotenoids and it also has alot anticancer vitamins. MUSHROOMS Mushrooms belong to the fungus family. They contain protein, phospherus, potassium, calcium, iron and B complex vitamins. They are very good for strengthening blood. ONIONS Onions contain many vitamins. Some researchers say that a half a cup of raw onions per day is a great way of protecting your blood from a tendancy to coagulate and clot. They are valued for theirmedicinal properties that improve kidney function and antibacterial qualities. PEAS Peas are rich in many vitamins. Some are: copper, iron, and vitamin E. POTATOES Potatoes have iron, potassium, calcium, vitamin c and B complex. Most of the nutrients are under the skin. The skin is full of fiber. ZUCCHINI Zucchini is esspecially rich in sodium. It is also very healthy for the liver. Isn't God great?! He has provided vitamin rich food for us to eat! When I eat my vegtables, its like taking medicine, God's perfect, medicine.
