"My hands, though wrinkled and weak, are the tools I have used all my life to reach and grab and embrace life. They caught my fall as a toddler, as I stumbled and fell. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. They tied up my shoe laces, and my mother taught me to fold them in prayer.
"They held my husband, and wiped my tears as he went off to war. Decorated with my wedding band, they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They were uneasy and clumsy as I held my newborn son.
"They have been dirty, scraped, raw and swollen as I worked to provide a comfortable home and healthy meals for my family. They wrote letters to loved ones, and trembled as I stood beside their graves.
"They have held children and grandchildren, and consoled my neighbors when they needed a loving touch.
"To this day, when not much else works well, these hands continue to fold in prayer as I bring the concerns of my heart to my loving heavenly Father."
