Having a thankful heart and attitude~
"Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people." Chronicles 16:8~
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful." Colossians 3:15~
"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. " Romans 1:21~
::Our society today is not a thankful society. Many people rely on the government to provide their living. They often don't get out and work like people used too! Years ago people worked hard, and were proud of their work, and felt good because they worked for what they earned. They were thankful, they didn't expect the government, and other people's taxes and help, to provide for them. Most people provided for themselves.
I am working on having a thankful attitude! I am determined with God's help, to rebel against today's unthankful society, and be thankful. But its so hard sometimes!
Even people like myself, with a father that works very hard, and parents who teach us that to get something we have to work for it,
We Americans especially have life easy. We go to the store and buy our food and clothes, we can stick a frozen dinner in the microwave and there you have a meal! We've got automatic shower cleaners, dishwashers, robotic vacuums, and tons of other things that make life easier.
I take it for granted, and I'm learning to have a thankful heart and attitude, even when things don't go my way, or life hasn't gone the way I want. My life is pretty good compared to others, I could be living in a dump and not know when my next meal will be!
I have loving parents, and they work hard, I am homeschooled, I have plenty of healthy food to eat, good friends and wonderful siblings..... etc. I try to make a list of these things to be thankful for in my head, when I begin to have an unthankful spirit. It also would be good to write down a thankful list on a piece of paper.
Thankfulness brings joy!
My mom has a magnet on the fridge that says: "Thankfulness is the soil in which joy thrives."
That little saying is so true. When we are thankful, we will have joy, and joy will thrive!

Wow! Great post, Mariah!!!=D
And you're right. Thankfullness is missing in today's society... and so is a lot of joy.
Phillipians 2:14-15
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe...
