Serving God at home ~

SERVING GOD THROUGH SIBLINGS~
Serving God through siblings? I have three younger siblings. A sister, Maddy who is eight, a brother (and best friend) Noah who is ten, and my baby :) brother who is four. Sometimes, I feel discouraged with being the oldest in the family. Being the oldest is a job in itself. I am doing my best to be the good example I should be for my young brothers and sister, I am still learning, and I have many flaws. Sometimes, I get discouraged in that I wish I could be doing something bigger to serve God. Then, I remember that being the eldest IS serving God. Learning to be a good sister and practicing being a good example IS serving God! Through taking care of them, I am serving God. While I get a drink for my little brother, While I help my sister with her schooling, while I help serve out the meal to my siblings, and as I help clean up some their messes, I am serving God. This is a ministry in itself! I run a ministry at home for my siblings! SERVING GOD THROUGH SCHOOLWORK~ I enjoy school and learning, though some others may not. My brother for instance, does not like school. He would rather be doing other things! I don't like sitting still very long either, I sometimes feel like I am wasting my time, but then I remember that I'm not wasting time, I'm doing school, I'm learning and studying. God's word tells us to "Study to show thyself approved unto God...." (2 Timothy 2:15) While I study, I am serving God, doing school IS serving God! His word instructs us to get wisdom through learning, and most importantly, studying His word. SERVING GOD THROUGH HOUSEWORK~ I like housework . There are only a few things I don't like to clean. I don't really like to clean the shower, but its not too bad, and I do clean it. Its good to remember, that while I do things around the house, I am serving God. cleaning the toilet, putting away my clothes, washing a dirty floor, IS serving God! God is happy to see me keeping my room clean, or cleaning the bathroom. God wants us to keep our homes clean and neat, he doesn't want us to live messy and unorderly! I don't think that God expects us to keep our homes perfect, but I thinks He does want us to do our best to stay neat and clean. SERVING GOD THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO PARENTS~ I struggle with obedience sometimes, especially being obedient WITH a good attitude. My Dad recently asked me to do something that I really do not want to do, but he asked me to do this out of obedience to my parents, WITH a good attitude. I am serving God by being obedient to my parents, "Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."( Ephesians 6:1) Being obedient to parents is another big challenge and job that God asks children to do, more like He commands us to do! SERVING GOD THROUGH BEING AN ENCOURAGEMENT IN THE HOME~ Being an encouragement at home, and not a discouragement is another thing we can do to serve God, and make our homes happy and peaceful places to be. Right now, that's one of my big things I am working on. I'm trying g to learn to speak kind words that encourage my siblings and build them up. Also, something that is a big encouragement in the home is prayer, and that is something I don't do enough, is praying for my siblings and my whole family, that we will love each other as we should, and live together in harmony and kindness. Prayer is large encouragement, A family that prays together, stays together, and God will help you and your family, and work in your family if you seek Him. One thing that I am very thankful for in my Mom, is that every morning at breakfast she takes time to pray with us, and about our different problems. SERVING GOD AT HOME IN CONCLUSION~ I am learning to trust God, and to keep on praying about these different things that I have discussed that I have trouble with. Being home with my family and learning to be what I'm supposed to be in my home as the eldest and a daughter,IS serving God, its a big job that God has given me to do right now in my life. As long as I'm doing my best to serve God in my home, and to please Him with my life, He is pleased. And if I pray and ask Him for strength, help and wisdom, He will help me. This is something that I have to pray about alot! Keep Praying!

I don't mind housework either but I don't enjoy the shower. :)
The shower just doesn't hold much charm for me!;P But I clean it too.:) When I clean it this week I'll think of you doing the same thing at your house. :)
Merry Christmas!

Thankyou for posting all the things you are learning. It encourages me as I go through similar things and shows me a slightly different perspective.
Thankyou again. ~ Dakota :D
