Caring about the elderly~

This Christmas, lets remember the elderly and also remember to pray for them! The Youth Group from my church, went to the nursing home and assisted living home to sing and give out christmas crafts they had made. I was glad that we could do this, and bring a little joy into these peoples lives. Many of them seem lonely. I wonder if they have family that will come and do things with them on Christmas. I wonder if they sit in their chairs and think back to the "good old days" when they were young and had children at home. I wonder if they think about christmas time back in 1944 when their children rushed downstaires on Christmas morning with exitement. They didn't have much since daddy had gone to war, but they were anticipating a day of being together. I took a paper wreath into one elderly lady. After I had given her the paper wreath the Youth Group had made, she thanked me over again. She was so happy to see me! Then, she began worrying where she would put that wreath. "Where should I hang it?" she asked "I don't know." I said looking around her small area she had. She felt the wreath over again smiling. (Her eyesight seemed to be bad.) 'Well, I can't hang it over there, and not over my chair."she said. "How about here?" I saked her pointing to the wall over her bed. "Yes, that would be good." She answered. Before leaving, she reached her hand out to me and I took and and held it tightly. "Thank you so much." When I left, I thanked the Lord that I was a ble to show God's love to this elderly lady and that He helped me overcome my nervouseness. This Christmas, remember the elderly. Go and visit them, take them some cookies or send them a Christmas card and show them that you care. I am very busy right now, and so aren't we all! if we don't have time to go visit an elderly, we can at least take time to pray for them. This Christmas remember to pray for our elderly. They need prayer too! Keep praying!
