From Daughterhood by Design~ By Emily Brinley~ About a month ago, our family was attending a family campmeeting in Oklahoma. On this particular occasion, I was very involved in practicing for a musical performance that was to take place the next day. It was nearing the end of practice time and I was very focused on learning my part. When—another interruption!--my father came and asked “where are the keys to the car?” No, I wasn't driving the car (I am only 13 years old)! I had the keys because I had used them the previous day to get something out of the car, which was locked, and had promptly forgotten to return them. Now, you must understand, when I lose things, I lose them good. So it wasn't like I could just jump off the stage and there they would be. I probably would have to search through all my belongings, and go all the way back to the cabin. By that time, practice would be over. This was not fair! But while Satan was tempting me with these thoughts, the Lord called to my heart and said, “You know what? It doesn't matter if you miss practice. I will be with you in your performance. You need to just surrender to Me.” And praise the Lord! I chose to surrender to Him and honor my father. You know what? I still had time to practice! Yes, I did find the keys. And I didn't have a hard time finding them, either. I would like to encourage all of you dear young ladies that if you commit to honor your father, and than follow through with that commitment, the Lord will bless you more that you could ever imagine.
