Little Gleanings from the book: My Utmost for His Highest, by Oswald Chambers

This devotional from My Utmost for His Highest really blessed me last night when I read it! I'm going to share the first paragraph with you. WHY CANNOT I FOLLOW THEE NOW? "Peter said unto Him, Lord, why cannot I follow Thee now?" John xiii. 37. There are times when you cannot understand why you cannot do what you want to do. When God brings the blank space, see that you do not fill it in, but wait. The blank space may come in order to teach you what sanctification means, or it may come after sanctification to teach you what service means. Never run before God's guidance. If there is the slightest dought, then He is not guiding. Whenever there is dought- don't. ~~That part was such a blessing to me! We all at times feel like the first sentence, "There are times when you cannot understand why you cannot do what you want to do." I have felt like that so many times, and then I realize that I just have to trust God. Pray about it. What I want to do, may not be what God wants me to do. Maybe He will say wait. Maybe He'll say no, and Perhaps He'll say yes. Prayer is the key. You need to pray about it. "Lord, this is what I want, but is this what you want me do? Lord, help me to surrender to your will, and know that your answer is best for me right now." Never run before God's guidance.
